About Sustainable Timber Frames
Sustainable Timber Frames is a family business located in Comboyne, near Port Macquarie on the Mid North Coast of NSW.
With over 20 years of experience in handcrafting unique timber designs, Andrew Turner is a graduate of the Northwest School of Wooden Boat Building in Port Townsend, Washington, USA. Projects include building:
- Designing and building a Chinese junk in Quebec
- A traditional, lapstrake, wooden boat for the Kumbh Mela in Allahabad, India
- Thatching and restoring black-houses on the Isle of Harris, Outer Hebrides, Scotland
And he has spent the last 14 years designing and building bespoke timber frames and fit-outs for clients in NSW.
- Retail fit-outs
- Sculptural applications including shopping centres
As the history of architecture has shown, traditional timber frame structures still stand, maintaining their structural integrity, hundreds of years after their construction. We use sustainably harvested or recycled timbers with incredibly low embodied energy. This allows our clients to participate in the evolution of sustainable architecture in Australia.
